7 Tips to Prepare Your Home for Sale

1. Make sure your home is well maintained. Try to fix all the major issues (paint it, renew it, replace the broken parts etc.). Don’t forget the little stuff as well (change the light bulbs, door knobs etc.).

2. De-cluttering and minimalizing your stuff will create the appearance of a home and lifestyle that functions well, make your rooms look bigger and lighter, and attract the potential buyers.

3. Make sure the house is spotless, especially the appliances in the kitchen, floors and cabinets. Get rid of almost everything on the counters, so the area looks nice and neat.

4. Identify the things about your house, you like the most and focus on showcasing these areas to their best potential. If these things made you fall in love with the house, your buyer would probably like them too.

5. Keep your front yard clean throughout the marketing period, maybe work on some landscaping, so you attract the highest amount of your target buyers.

6. Ask your real estate agent to help you set up the right price. Over priced homes will not sell no matter how good they are.

7. Be “open” for business 24/7 and try to leave the house when it is being shown. Buyers will feel more comfortable if the seller is not present.

The most expensive ...(via Sotheby's)

The most expensive ...watch

Part of the legendary Henry Graves collection, the Supercomplication is the result of a race between Graves and his contemporary, James Ward Packard, to own the most complicated - with the most number of mechanical functions - watch.

The Graves Supercomplication watch had 24 complications, and took over five years to design and manufacture the 900 parts making up the complicated and expensive pocket watch. Among the secondary functions featured by Graves’s pocket watch was a celestial chart based on the night sky above Graves’ home in New York!

In 1999, the watch was sold at Sotheby’s Masterpieces from the Time Museum auction to Middle Eastern collector, who made the final bid of $10 million dollars. http://ow.ly/e4Jxg.

The most expensive ...listing

Zeki Pasa Waterside Mansion - Rumelihisari, IS. Currently listed at $115,000,000.
This remarkable Mansion, located in Baltalimani, RumeliHisari was built in the second half of the 19th century by the famous French architect Alexandre Vallaury for Müsir Zeki Pasha, who was a minister during the ruling of Sultan Abdulhamit II.

This approximately 150 year-old, baroque style Mansion is without a doubt one of the most distinguished mansions of the Bosphorus with 5 stories, approximately 3000 m2 interior, 4000 m2 garden and 130 m long pier. http://ow.ly/e4PMo.

The most expensive ...painting

Edvard Munch’s 1895 version of “The Scream” — became the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction. It brought nearly $120 million at Sotheby’s in May, which is $40 million more than the starting price of the lot.

Der Schrei der Natur (The Scream of Nature) is the title Munch gave to these works, all of which show a figure with an agonized expression against a landscape with a tumultuous red sky. The landscape in the background is the Oslofjord, viewed from Ekeberg, Oslo, Norway. http://ow.ly/e4Dv2.
